The applicant must be under 35 years old.
The applicant must be a resident of a tropical low-income country.
Priority will be given to species facing an immediate threat of extinction.
The target species must belong to the kingdom Animalia.
A formal university degree is not required (i.e., parabiologists and indigenous scientists may also apply).
The project must result in the description of a species.
Budgets must be submitted in USD.
The amount of funding requested should be no more than $5,000.
No more than $1,000 may be allocated as salary of the lead researcher.
